Our recent trip to the annual Wychavon Entertainment competition saw the band come away with two podium finishes. Playing an entertainment programme build around an astronomical theme, with a programme that included Ad Astra, Cantina Band (from Star Wars) and Eve of the War (from Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds), as well as soloist spots from Gareth Rolland on Solo Trombone playing Fly Me to the Moon and Andrea Lewis on Flugel Horn playing A Little Star Went out. The band started the day as runners up in the First Section and ending with another second place in the Championship Section, as well as our Bartione team of Gareth Maidment and Hugh Williams being awarded Best Baritones. This is the third year in succession that the band has come away with a prize on what is a really well run competition, making for a really enjoyable day of music making. Wychavon Festival of Brass.
