Trombone

Phil Dando has had over twenty five years as a professional trombonist. He currently runs his own Big Band, 8 piece Dance Band, Jazz Sextet, Walkabout Jazz Band, Brass Ensemble and the Welsh Brass Trio. He is bass trombonist with the Chamber Orchestra of Wales and has performed in many orchestral concerts and T.V. programmes in recent years.

Previous years have seen performances with both English and Welsh National Opera Companies, Dance Theatre of Harlem, English Ballet, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, B.B.C. Concert Orchestra, London Mozart Players, B.B.C. Radio Band, Television programmes include Les Dawson, Morecombe and Wise, Dick Emery, Acker Bilk, David Essex. Tours with Tony Bennett, Isaac Hayes, Peanuts Hucko. Candide at the Edinburgh Festival.
West end shows include eighteen months in Chicago and a year in They're Playing My Song. Regular deputy work in Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, A Chorus Line, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie, The Lion King, Starlight Express and recently, Bugle Boy. Nearly three years were spent as bass trombonist with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and vocalist in the Serenaders where his love of big band music was formed.
